A Pressure Switch, also known as a pressure relay or pressure sensor, is an electrical device that provides feedback signals to the operating system to monitor pressure changes, whether increasing or decreasing. Based on this feedback, it controls the opening and closing of the electrical system. Depending on the scale, power, and structure of each operating system, the number of pressure switches required can vary, ranging from one to several switches. This is because each switch is only responsible for adjusting a specific operation or set point. In simpler terms, a pressure switch is responsible for converting pressure signals into on/off signals for the electrical circuit.

Working principle

The Pressure Switch activates the operating mechanism by using the pressure of the substance contained within a chamber or tank. It then switches the connected device on/off by activating two internal contacts. A mechanical pressure switch cannot be adjusted because the pressure points are pre-set by the manufacturer. In contrast, an electronic pressure switch uses electrical signals to activate the switch while continuously monitoring the pressure level in the chamber by providing secondary signals. The switching points and pressure settings can be adjusted as needed through an interface.
